Magnesium Stearate

Magnesium stearate is one of the most widely used additives used in medicines and supplements today. Magnesium stearate is also available under other names such as vegetable stearate or derivatives such as stearic acid.
Magnesium stearate (Mg (C18H3502) 2 or octadecanoic acid) is a white solid powder at room temperature. This inactive ingredient is FDA-approved and is commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry as a diluent to produce tablets, capsules, and powders. Despite its widespread use, this ingredient is one of the most controversial ingredients in the supplement world. Magnesium stearate basically contains two substances: stearic acid and magnesium. Magnesium is an essential mineral in the diet, and most adults need between 310 and 420 mg of magnesium every day. Almost half of all magnesium in the human body is in the bones, and the rest helps to build proteins, maintain muscle and nerve function, regulate blood sugar and blood pressure, and DNA transcription.
